The Program in Visual Impairments at Florida State University has been preparing graduates to teach people with visual impairments since 1963.

Requirements for Admission (Undergraduate)

Individuals interested in earning their B.S. Degree in Visual Disabilities should contact the program coordinator. Careful course advising is required for all students.

Students will also be required to meet the Florida State University Teacher Education requirements stated below:

completion of AA requirements for education majors
exemption from or passing scores on all parts of CLAST and the Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge test
minimum GPA of 2.5

Special students must also pass and meet the GPA requirements.

All students are expected to have the computer skills to independently access the Internet, use web-based applications, and use a word processor.

Requirements for Admission (Graduate)

All applicants must:

Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Have a GPA of 3.0 or a GRE score of at least 1000.
Submit a GRE score.
Participate in a telephone or in-person interview.
Submit 2 letters of recommendation
All students are expected to have the computer skills to independently access the Internet, use web-based applications, and use a word processor.
